On Saturday 19th October the SSF Education and Training team hosted our first standardisation event in recent years. The purpose of standardisation is to ensure that all tutors who are delivering and assessing the SSF Education and Training modules, are doing so to the same standard across the country. Over the past 2 years there has been a full review of the modules and resources, and the standardisation event was a great opportunity to share and upskill tutors on the updated content.
Throughout this process, Glasgow Kelvin College, our SCQF credit rating body has been involved, to ensure that any changes to the modules have been approved by them and continue to meet the requirements for SCQF accreditation.
The event was held online, and covered the following topics:
- About SSF and our approach
- Comparing examples of best practice and remediations
- SSF’s quality assurance and internal verification process
- Policy and procedure updates, using the tutor resource hub
- Module development and marking guidance updates
- SSF Endorsed Tutor scheme
The final date of the SSF Tutor Standardisation events for 2024 will take place online on Monday 18th November.
If you are a tutor delivering SSF Education and Training modules, please remember you must attend at least 1 standardisation event annually to have continued access to the tutor resources and the ability to deliver SSF’s accredited Education and Training modules. You can sign up for the event by emailing shabaz.khan@ssf.org.uk.
