ETC Update April 2022

The Education Through Cashback (ETC) team have been working hard to deliver ETC modules across Scotland both virtually and face-to-face. We have continued to accommodate the needs of the individuals participating and ensuring those that are booking module delivery, will receive the same standard of delivery online as they would face to face. We have continued working with the Scottish Football Association (SFA) to deliver ETC modules as part of their Volunteer Inspire Project (VIP) which is delivered nationally. The SFA VIP programme is a group of aspiring football coaches aged between 16-24 who are seeking development and experiences to help them achieve their coaching goals.

So far they have completed multiple modules from, Planning Effective Physical Activity Programmes, to Communication. The participants have used the knowledge gained from the programme to develop their knowledge and skills around coaching. The modules were tailored to meet the needs of the group and were revolved around football practices to ensure the information was relevant to the aspiring coaches.

Our lead tutors are highly trained to deliver all of the modules using their own personal experiences to relate to the group in front of them. As a result, we recently received great feedback on the Goal Setting module with the SFA group due to the. tutor going into detail about their dyslexia and the challenges they face to reach their goals in life and what techniques could be used to make things easier for them and others around them. At the end of the session, a participate stayed back to speak with the tutor and said

“Thank you for sharing your story, I have dyslexia too and it has been a battle to think I can’t achieve anything with it. You have made me more confident to be a better coach as my dyslexia won’t stop me."

At SSF, we truly believe that sport has the power to change lives. Our ETC modules have been designed to support individuals and organisations to take a person-centered approach and embed it within their practice. We want to work in partnership with you to ensure everyone has access to sport and physical activity and the wider benefits that come with it.

Our modules can be delivered in a variety of styles to support professionals to embed a ‘Sport for Change’ approach within their practice.
