Taggarts Jaguar showroom donates 20 Jaguar Land Rover tennis kits to youth sports charity, Scottish Sports Futures, in the wake of the Wimbledon final.
Jaguar Land Rover, the official car sponsors of Wimbledon, have supplied Taggarts with over 200 pieces of equipment including – Babolat tennis rackets, nets, kit bags and water bottles, to mark this year’s tennis tournament final, which took place on Sunday 11 July.
The equipment is a welcome contribution for Scottish Sports Futures, who develop community initiatives dedicated to improving the lives of vulnerable and disadvantaged young people and families across Glasgow.
Each programme that the charity develops is through sports and physical activity designed to empower individuals and families to be confident, healthy and happy.
Scottish Sports Futures is currently celebrating its 21st anniversary. Last year the charity supported 5,320 young people in Scotland most at risk and as a result, more than a thousand young people successfully completed training and 63 secured jobs, with 83% reporting that they had positively changed their behaviour; 86% had increased their aspirations; and 93% reported improved wellbeing.
Brian Herlihy, Head of Business at Taggarts Jaguar, views the kit handover with SSF as a great opportunity to support local communities post lockdown saying:
“Giving ample supply to community groups means so much to us, especially since young people have had to miss out on activities in local centres during lockdown. Our team at Taggarts value the importance of sports for young people - whether it’s kicking a ball in a five-a-side team or getting to grips with a tennis serve, it’s a chance to catch up with friends, destress and exercise through play.”
Receiving the equipment at the Jaguar Land Rover showroom, Preeti Jassal, Marketing & Fundraising Manager, Scottish Sports Futures, shared how working with local businesses can make a valuable difference to charities as Preeti said:
“We are extremely grateful to Taggarts Jaguar for their generous donation. It’s amazing how worldwide sporting events such as Wimbledon really inspire young people as well as provide great role models. Our young people will make terrific use of all of the equipment donated across all of our sessions. Sometimes an intro into a sport is all it takes to create the next Serena Williams or Andy Murray!”
