What is it?

SSF Chance:2:Be is a 24 week intensive personal development programme. We offer a safe environment for young people who may be finding it difficult to remain in education and provide them with an opportunity to access group and 1-2-1 support, engage in personal development workshops, set goals, complete accessible training and accreditations.

What does it achieve?

The SSF Chance:2:Be programme uses the combination of physical activity and youth work to support young people to; 

  • Increase confidence 
  • Build resilience and aspirations
  • Improve their learning, employability, and employment options, and progress to positive destinations
  • Develop their personal and physical skills
  • Increase levels of physical activity
  • Improve their mental health and wellbeing 
  • Increase connections with the wider community
  • Reduce and divert potential harmful behaviour

What does it achieve?

Who is the programme for?

This programme would benefit young people who:

  • Are 15+ and in S4 or above
  • Enjoy taking part in sport & physical activity.
  • Would benefit from personal development support
  • Are not engaged or finding it difficult to engage fully with education.
  • Are unemployed or not engaging in training
  • Are able attend 2 days per week, 10am-3.15pm Tuesdays and Thursday

What will young people do on the programme?

  • Goalsetting
  • Team building
  • Life skills workshops including cooking, furniture building and budgeting
  • Community mapping of their local area
  • Visit to local sports clubs
  • Personal development plans and 1-2-1 meetings
  • Mental health workshops
  • Weekly physical activity sessions
  • Issue-based workshops including vaping and sexual health
  • A minimum of 4 accreditations

What will young people do on the programme?

More Information

The SSF Chance:2:Be programme is delivered in North Ayrshire, Fife, Stirling and Glasgow and will launch in September 2024. We work with local schools and receive nominations for young people to attend the programme.
