East Central Delivery Update July 2021

Our SSF East Central Team have been planning, preparing and now delivering SSF programmes in Fife! We have been working closely with a number of key partners in the region, our Shell Twilight and Active:2:Grow programme have now officially launched, with the SSF Chance:2:Be programme set to launch in August, following a mini summer engagement programme with the SSF Chance:2:Be young people.

The Shell Twilight programme launched on Thursday 13th May at Lochgelly High School. After carrying out extensive promotional work through social media platforms, taster sessions and in school / community discussion with local young people, the Shell Twilight session took off with a great number of participants attending the session, despite the poor weather! This promotion could not have been possible without the strong links and partnerships with Lochgelly High School and local partnering organisations such as Fife Active School’sThe Clued Up ProjectCommunity Sports Hubs FifeOur Minds Matter, Fife CLD and many more!

On Tuesday 25th May, the Active:2:Grow programme also launched in Lochgelly with a number of Lochgelly High School’s young people engaging in the session, supporting their mental health and wellbeing. The programme will run for 48 weeks. The programme has been produced in conjunction with SAMH ensuring that our young people are well supported throughout the programme.

"What a great start to the Active:2:Grow programme. A perfect combination of keeping our young people both physically and mentally fit. I cannot wait to see the young people grow their skills and their confidence over the programme."

The delivery of these programmes would not have been possible without the work of the East Central Team’s newly recruited sessional workers! Callum and Jason welcomed five new sessional workers to lead and support our Shell Twilight and Active:2:Grow programmes.

  • Rhona Wilson: Lead Shell Twilight Coach
  • Ewan McTurk: Sessional Shell Twilight Coach
  • Paige Boyle: Lead Active:2:Grow Coach
  • Cameron Kingsland: Sessional Active:2:Grow Coach
